Based on Bharatirajaa’s powerful Tamil hit Oru Kaithiyin Diary with Kamal Hasan in the main roles, this revenge drama features Amitabh Bachchan in a double role. David (Amitabh Bachchan) is a trade union leader whose wife Mary (Jayaprada) is assaulted and killed by an influential politician. David himself is framed for the crime and jailed. Twenty-four years later, he comes out of prison, swearing revenge. He discovers that his son Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan again) is now a police officer who must do his duty to uphold the law. Several encounters between the criminal father and the law-abiding son follow, culminating in a final showdown. Jayapradha and Sridevi play the love interests of the elder and the younger Amitabh’s respectively. ‘Gori Ka Saajan Saajan Ki Gori’ and ‘Tune Mera Doodh Piya Hai’ were two chartbusting songs from the film.
